Join us for an exciting Science Activities evening hosted by UK CEH and the Forth Rivers Trust, where we'll dive into the fascinating world of loch ecology!
During this hands-on session, experts from the Trust will demonstrate electrofishing, a vital technique for monitoring fish populations, alongside kick sampling, which reveals the diversity of aquatic invertebrates living in the loch. These methods offer a unique insight into the health of our Loch Leven and the creatures that call them home.
To enhance the experience, we'll also bring along our algal torch and other scientific tools, allowing participants to explore the microscopic wonders of freshwater ecosystems.
Whether you're a seasoned conservationist or simply curious about local wildlife, this event promises to be both educational and engaging.
The science activities evening is a really great opportunity for some free science tutorials, and it gives people and kids a chance to see what we do as scientists at UKCEH and beyond – whilst providing knowledge of the aquatic spaces right on their doorstep.
This is an outdoor event by the Lochside - please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
