Kdor je prebral roman 𝑃𝑜𝑝𝑜𝑙𝑛𝑜𝑠𝑡𝑖 Vincenza Latronica, ve, da ni presenetljivo, da je bila to knjiga, ki je prevzela nišne meme preteklega poletja na internetu, presegla meje literature in se spremenila v simbol določenega življenjskega sloga. Ta knjiga, sicer letošnja finalistka za nagrado mednarodni booker, se namreč ukvarja prav z vprašanjem o razliki med življenjem in življenjskim slogom, kar prikazuje skozi protagonista, katerih resnično življenje večino časa le žalostno caplja za njuno spletno prisotnostjo. Ana in Tom, protagonista, nista samo oblikovalca samo po poklicu, ampak sta tudi oblikovalca lastnih življenj. Vendar pa knjiga ni moralistična kritika nekega časa ali celo generacije, ampak empatični prikaz življenj generacije, ki je mislila, da bo postala nekaj drugega, kar v resnici je.

Anyone who has read 𝑃𝑒𝑟𝑓𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛, a novel by 𝑽𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒛𝒐 𝑳𝒂𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒐, knows it’s no surprise that this book captured the niche memes of last summer on the internet, transcended the boundaries of literature, and became a symbol of a certain lifestyle. This novel, a finalist for this year’s International Booker Prize, explores the question of the difference between life and lifestyle, portrayed through its protagonists, whose real lives sadly lag behind their online presence most of the time. Ana and Tom, the main characters, are not only designers by profession but also designers of their own lives. However, the novel is not a moralistic critique of an era or even a generation − it’s an empathetic portrayal of a generation that believed it would become something other than what it actually is.
