Nihajoči prostori so mikrotonalna kompozicija, namenjena poglobljeni psihoakustični izkušnji nihanja zvočnih valov v prostoru. Izvajalki z vztrajnim, počasnim lokanjem činel razporejenih po prostoru ustvarjata pretanjene mikrotonalne sekvence, ki se z odmevanjem razraščajo v prizvoke, presluhe, motnje in fazna izničevanja ter slušateljstvo obdajajo kot gibajoča se zvočna polja. Poslušanje sega onkraj harmonije, v območje telesnega občutenja zračnega valovanja in frekvenčnih intenzitet. Njune geste proizvajajo trenje, zgoščevanje zvočnih mas, nihanje in neprekinjeni tok. Občasno se pojavijo perkusivni odboji, resonančni utripi ter vrtinci in rotacije, ki prostor spreminjajo v živ organizem. Gibanje izvajalk in slušateljstva po prostoru aktivno premeša valove ter oblikuje intimen odnos do izvora zvoka. Pozorno poslušanje postopoma izostri zaznavo drobnih intervalnih razlik, ki se izmikajo harmoničnim okvirom. Skozi neznani zvočni svet mikrotonalnega valovanja odpiramo nove čustvene in miselne odzive ter spodbujamo drugačne načine bivanja z zvokom.
Dolge, otožne sekvence avtorici prepletata s tihim premišljevanjem o bolečini, lakoti, ujetosti in nasilju, ter o drobnih, a trdoživih iskrah upanja, ki kljubujejo razpadajočemu svetu polnem človeške krutosti.
IDA HIRŠENFELDER (BEEPBLIP) (1977) je zvočna umetnica in arhivistka. Komponira psihogeografske prostorske in ambisonične skladbe, zvočne instalacije in zvočne sprehode. Še zlasti jo zanimajo zvočna ekologija in umeščanje zvoka v prostor, s čimer obravnava teme, kot so sebstvo neorganskih drugih, prevajanje nečloveških jezikov in poslušanje neslišnega. Je članica skupine Jata C za bioakustiko in zvočno ekologijo, skupnosti Clockwork Voltage za modularno sintezo in CENSE - Centralnoevropske mreže za zvočne ekologije. Njene samostojne albume je izdala Založba Kamizdat. Pogosto sodeluje pri sodobnih plesnih predstavah, za kar je v sezoni 2023/24 prejela nagrado Zlata strela Zavoda Bunker za zvočno krajino.
URŠKA SAVIČ (SAVA ŠUMI) (1992) je fotografinja, recenzentka, radijska umetnica in producentka. Leta 2014 je diplomirala na FAMU (Akademiji za uprizoritvene umetnosti v Pragi), leta 2020 pa magistrirala na oddelku kiparstva ALUO (Akademiji za likovno umetnost in oblikovanje v Ljubljani) s poudarkom na arhivskih praksah v sodobni umetnosti, za kar je prejela Prešernovo nagrado. Od leta 2019 deluje kot umetniška vodja Odprte radijske (umetniško-teoretske) raziskovalne platforme R A D A R na Radiu Študent. Poučuje na Oddelku za fotografijo ALUO, je del uredništva revije Fotografija / Membrana in članica fotografskega kolektiva Kela, pripravlja pa tudi novinarske prispevke za 3. program Radia Slovenija – program Ars.

Ida Hiršenfelder & Urška Savič – Oscillating Spaces, microtonal composition for nine cymbals and space (2025)

Oscillating Spaces is a microtonal composition made for a deep psychoacoustic experience of the oscillation of sound waves in space. With persistent, slow bowing of cymbals placed around the hall, the two performers create subtle microtonal sequences. These tones expand into overtones, cross-resonances, interference patterns, and phase cancellations, surrounding the listeners in slowly drifting sound fields. The music moves beyond harmony, into a realm where listening becomes a physical sensation, where one feels the pulse of air and the weight of frequencies on one’s skin. Their gestures produce friction, density of sound masses, oscillations, and a flux. At times, percussive rebounds, resonant pulses, and rotations emerge, transforming the space into a living organism. As both performers and audience move through the space, the sound waves are stirred and reshaped, deepening the intimacy between sound sources and listeners. Attentive listening gradually sharpens the perception of tiny differences in intervals that elude harmonic frameworks. Through the unfamiliar sonic world of microtonal oscillations, we open new emotional and mental responses and encourage different ways of being with sound.
For the performers, the long, lamenting passages come from the place of quiet meditations on pain, hunger, confinement, and violence, yet also on the small, resilient sparks of hope and beauty that endure in a world burdened by human cruelty.
IDA HIRŠENFELDER (BEEPBLIP) (1977) is a sound artist and archivist making psychogeographical, spatial, and ambisonic compositions, sound installations and sound walks. Her work primarily explores sound ecology and spatialisation, addressing themes such as the agency of non-organic others, non-human languages, and listening to the inaudible. She is a member of the Jata C group for bioacoustics and sound ecologies, the Clockwork Voltage community for modular synthesis, and the CENSE Central European Network for Sonic Ecologies. Her solo albums were published by the Kamizdat label. She frequently composes for contemporary dance, for which she received the Golden Lightning Award from the Bunker Institute for soundscape in the 2023/24 season.
URŠKA SAVIČ (SAVA ŠUMI) (1992) is a photographer, critic, radio artist, and producer. She graduated from FAMU (Academy of Performing Arts, Prague) in 2014 and earned an MA from ALUO (Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Ljubljana) in 2020, focusing on archival practices in contemporary art, for which she received the Prešeren Award. She has served as the artistic director of the Open Radio Investigative Art Platform R A D A R since 2019. She has been teaching at the ALUO Department for Photography and is a member of the Fotografija/Membrana editorial board. She is also a member of the Kela photography collective and writes reviews for the 3rd program of Radio Slovenia – Ars.
