We’re beyond excited to invite you to LIFE HACKS: Creating Solutions for Daily SMA Challenges, a unique innovation event where desire to help meets creativity and creativity turns into impact.
Together with Roche Slovenia, we’re opening the doors for bright minds, innovators, students, designers, caregivers, and health tech enthusiasts to search for practical solutions for people living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and their caregivers.
This is not a hackathon about coding. It’s a hackathon about real lives of people facing this condition.
🧩 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗘
Living with SMA comes with daily challenges that often go unnoticed, from mobility and communication to caregiving and independence.
Your mission?
To design simple, achivable, and meaningful solutions that can improve the quality of life for individuals with SMA and their families.
Whether it’s a smart assistive device, a new digital tool, a service model, or something completely unexpected, if it makes a difference, it belongs here.
We’ll explore questions like:
💡 How can technology support caregivers in everyday routines?
💬 How can communication between patients, healthcare providers, and families become easier?
🚀 How can we enable more independence, social participation, and dignity for people living with SMA?
⚙️ 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗧𝗢 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗧
Two full days of fast-paced innovation, mentorship, and collaboration in the heart of Ljubljana at Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology
You’ll work in teams, guided by mentors and participants from Roche, Transformation Lighthouse, and the SMA community. Together we will be turning ideas into working prototypes and pitching them to expert judges.
At the end? Real prizes for real impact:
🏆 1st place: 3,000€
🥈 2nd place: 2,400€
🥉 3rd place: 1,500€
More importantly, winning ideas may continue their journey through Roche’s innovation ecosystem where prototypes meet potential for scaling.
