As part of La Feria 2025 — Liverpool’s annual International Latin American Arts and Culture Festival — Luma Creations presents a richly layered evening of live performance and cross-cultural expression at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Music Room on Thursday 2nd October. Chilean jazz fusion group Antonio Monasterio Ensamble will close the night with their genre-defying sound, while opening the evening is the distinctive Liverpool-based artist Saranne, joined by her long-time musical collaborator Alex McDowall.
A mesmerising singer-songwriter with Chilean and Liverpudlian roots, Saranne is known for her evocative vocals, poetic lyricism, and deeply personal songwriting. Drawing inspiration from the bold textures of Portishead, the soul-stirring tones of Amy Winehouse, and the emotional force of Nina Simone, she weaves songs that explore love, pain, and transformation. Her live performances resonate with a rare authenticity, marked by an unflinching honesty and the kind of emotional clarity that lingers with audiences long after the lights go down.
Guitarist and composer Alex McDowall brings a distinctive musical voice to the stage, rooted in jazz and shaped by diverse global influences including Latin American, blues, and African traditions. His playing combines technical precision with expressive depth, making him an ideal creative partner for Saranne’s emotionally rich songwriting. Together, their sound is simultaneously refined and untamed, a balance of improvisation, lyricism, and dynamic musical interplay.

The duo have been performing together since 2019, and their live shows, from St George’s Hall to previous appearances at the Music Room, are defined by a rare musical synergy. Their performances blend crafted compositions with subtle improvisational touches, creating an atmosphere that is both immersive and immediate. With jazz forming a core influence in their shared musical language, they offer a soundscape that moves effortlessly between vulnerability and strength, melody and exploration.
Their inclusion in the La Feria 2025 programme not only highlights Liverpool’s homegrown talent but deepens the cultural bridge between two UNESCO Cities of Music: Valparaíso and Liverpool. As Antonio Monasterio Ensamble embarks on their first-ever UK and European tour, this evening of transcendent music will showcase what happens when international artistry and local soul meet on one stage.
Expect a night of rich storytelling, moving melodies, and genre-defying soundscapes, an unforgettable celebration of music’s power to connect across borders and experiences.
