Info: Dr Brookes will talk about a neuroinflammatory compulsivity model which is being trialed in Merseyside. A new 'brain gym' technique is offering hope to people living with Eating Disorders. The technique, which involves repairing parts of the brain with 'mental exercise' has already shown early promise in its trials to date. TEDS UK are proud to be working in partnership with LJMU during this research.
Info: Leigh Best is an award winning Clinical Psychotherapist, who has specialised in Eating Disorders in the community for 25 years. She is a passionate advocate for families and sufferers, and will highlight the critical importance in the role of the family in Eating Disorder recovery. This will include practical suggestions and ideas to improve well being for the whole family.
Info: Jill is part of the TEDS team and a parent of a child who is now fully recovered from an Eating Disorder. She will give an overview of her experiences and she will also talk about her role as a peer recovery coach. Lucy, her daughter will then share her lived experience of Anorexia Nervosa, and how she has found that yoga has become instrumental in her recovery.
Info: Tina will be sharing some aspects of her journey as a parent of a child who suffered Anorexia, Bulimia, binge eating, self harm and laxative abuse, and will talk about how we need to do better now. She will also share her daughters' benefit of therapeutic specialist support.
Info: Claire began her career as a mental health nurse working with young people with eating disorders and has dedicated her career to supporting people through their recovery journey. She is currently the Director and Founder of All Well and Good, a therapy service based in Chester, where she works as a CBT therapist. Claire and her team specialise in treating people of all ages with eating disorders and other mental health difficulties, both online and in person. She is also a senior lecturer in Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy at the University of Greater Manchester and a Clinical Trainer for BEAT.
Info: With over 20 years experience, Edwina is a naturopath and medical herbalist who has a special interest in brain nutrition, children's health, mental health and cognition.
Info: Hope Virgo is an Author and a multi award winning international leading advocate for people with eating disorders. Hope is also a recognised media spokesperson, having appeared on various platforms including BBC Newsnight, The Lorraine Show, Good Morning Britain, Sky News and BBC News. Hope is the founder of the #DumpTheScales campaign and the Secretariat for the APPG for eating disorders. * Please note - this speaker will be talking via video link.
Info: Nicky describes living with a young family affected by ARFID, autism and an eating disorder, and how it is a double edged sword.
