PART ONE: John and I had always hoped to host a Halloween Party, unfortunately we were unable to see that dream realized together. Please join myself and his spirit for a hauntingly good time!
You can expect some good tunes,a bonfire (weather permitting) games and a Costume Contest (the Spirit of Judgy John will be awarding prizes in multiple categories).
Halloween themed cocktails, non alcoholic beverages, snacks and treats will be available. Please feel free to bring your beverage of choice if you desire.
Disclaimer: COSTUMES ARE REQUIRED! Guests that show up in everyday attire will be subject to harassment…
In order to give me ample time to clean up and prepare for the second portion of the festivities it is expected anyone not lodging at my house will be leaving by midnight.
PART TWO: Starting at 2 pm on November 1st there will be a Celebration of Life for the late John Pulaski. Due to John’s interest in culture, his non traditional nature and love of the macabre, this celebration will have a light Día de los Muertos theme.
The primary importance of Día de los Muertos, also known as the Day of the Dead, is to honor and remember friends and family members who have passed away. Despite its name, Día de los Muertos is a vibrant and joyful celebration of life, emphasizing that death is a natural part of the human experience and not to be feared. Día de los Muertos is believed to open a portal between the living and the dead, allowing for direct contact and communication with ancestors. The holiday provides a structured and meaningful way to process grief, fostering emotional healing and providing comfort through rituals and shared experiences. Día de los Muertos is a festive and colorful celebration with vibrant decorations, food, music, and dance, creating a joyous atmosphere despite the focus on death.
• Ofrendas (Altars): Creating elaborate altars adorned with photographs, favorite foods, drinks, and personal mementos, helps families connect with and remember their loved ones. Calaveras (skulls) and calacas (skeletons) are iconic symbols of the holiday, representing the cycle of life and death, but also conveying a playful and lighthearted spirit. The celebration fosters a sense of belonging and support within communities, as people come together to honor the departed and share their memories.
Please come anticipating some aspects of this holiday intermixed with more traditional ways to honor his legacy.
