We invite you to join us for a practical, informative, and hands-on workshop designed to help landholders better understand erosion processes and how to manage them effectively. This is a free event but please register all attendees.
Key Speaker: Shane Laverty
Shane is Rivers of Carbon’s River Restoration Program Manager and a qualified erosion control designer with over 25 years of experience in the earthmoving and environmental sectors. He has spent decades designing and constructing erosion control measures across eastern NSW.
Shane will guide participants through:
The causes and progression of erosion
How to read your landscape for early warning signs
Navigating legislative requirements
Developing conceptual erosion control designs based on real examples brought by attendees
Shane will also outline the Source Water Linkages Program and how landholders can get involved.
Guest Presenter: Peter Evans, Central Tablelands Local Land Services (CTLLS)
Peter will discuss the link between water quality, livestock productivity, and its impact on the broader community.
Agenda for the day:
9:00am – Arrival and morning tea
9:30am – Workshop begins with Shane Laverty’s in-depth erosion session
12:30pm – Lunch (provided)
1:15pm – Short presentations from Local Land Services and find out about the Source Water Linkages Program
2:00pm – Field walk at a local farm to observe erosion processes in the landscape
This workshop is suitable for landholders, land managers, and anyone interested in improving on-ground outcomes for their property and the catchment.
What to bring:
Sturdy walking shoes and clothes suitable for field walks
Wet weather gear
A water bottle
Event and dietary details :
The address and directions to the venue will be sent one week prior to the workshop via mail. When you register, we will ask you if you have a car suitable for driving to the field walk site.
This is a free event, but please register all attendees separately so we can cater for everyone. When you register, let us know if you have any dietary requirements or please bring your own food if you have severe allergies.
