This hike begins at Ivybridge Station, heading up onto Dartmoor via a section of the legendary hiking trail The Two Moors Way.
Our route leads us to Piles Copse, a beautiful area of ancient upland woodland nestled beside the River Erme.
From there, we’ll make a steep climb onto the high moorland, visiting Sharp Tor, Piles Hill, Butterdon Hill, and Western Beacon before descending back to the station.
This is our most challenging hike of the year, taking place in a remote area with uneven ground and steep inclines.
Because of the difficulty and isolated location, this hike is open only to club members who have completed previous hikes with us and demonstrated a good level of hiking fitness.
Please bring plenty of food and drink, as this will be an all-day trip and we won't be returning to Liskeard until the early evening.
The train departs from Liskeard Station at 10:18 a.m. Return fare: £8.
