Johnny Bauer is a touring Americana-Blues musician from Rochester, NY and is an accomplished singer, songwriter, and guitarist. His long-time partner, Nicki Paris joins him on bass and vocals.
“Too rock to be country and too country to be rock” - Johnny is now coming to realize a lot of famous musicians similarly did not force themselves into just one genre. Artists like Delbert McClinton, John Osborne of Brothers Osborne, Chris Stapleton - they all mix country, blues, and roots music. When you love it all, that’s just how it comes out when songwriting. Great guitar solos span all genres- like The Eagles and The Allman Brothers.
As a young guitarist, Johnny fell in love with 90s country and the likes of Vince Gill, Marty Stuart, Garth Brooks, and Alan Jackson featuring fast “chicken pickin” and twangy guitars. He had also grown up listening to his older brothers’ 80s rock albums - bands like Dio, White Snake, and Dokken. Later in life, he circled back to blues music, mostly thanks to local legend Joe Bonamassa and meeting regional touring acts at smaller venues.
Together, this resulted in a sound that can best be described as Americana - which encompasses parts of country, blues, roots, and southern rock music. The guitar plays a central role in Johnny’s songs, acting like another vocalist to lace catchy melodies throughout.
