On Sunday, July 27th, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater hurls you into the schwingin’est show in July, WAYNESTOCK, a 35mm WAYNE’S WORLD double feature, with enough pre-show rockin’ and rollin’ to keep you partying on into the night!
We celebrate the cinematic legacy of the little SNL sketch that became phenomenon with live bands before the sun sets, a roadie contest, and the Mirthmobile in person*!
Once the sun goes down, get ready to witness what just might be the greatest motion picture ever made, Penelope Spheeris’ WAYNE’S WORLD (1992), starring Mike Myers as Wayne and Dana Carvey as Garth, two metalheads in suburban Aurora, Illinois with a public access talk show broadcast live from a basement, who rub elbows with rock royalty, and meet foxy females as they move into the big time.
One of the most quotable films of the 90s, a rock n roll comedy with an all-star cast that brought Queen back into the limelight thanks to one of the greatest car sing-along scenes of all time. With Tia Carrere, Donna Douglas, Lara Flynn-Boyle, Rob Lowe, and Alice Cooper!
We follow that with WAYNE’S WORLD 2 (1993), which finds Wayne and Garth attempting to get their own rock festival, Waynestock, off the ground, and save Wayne’s girlfriend from marrying Christopher Walken! With Chris Farley, Kim Bassinger, James Hong, Aerosmith and Rip Taylor!
