On Sunday, September 7th, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater in Lehighton, PA presents the first in an exciting new series, Fresh Prints, in which we feature newly-struck 35mm film prints of genre classics, courtesy of our friends at The American Genre Film Archive (AGFA). Old films, new prints, timeless movie magic.
We kick off with Richard Kelly’s cult phenomenon DONNIE DARKO (2001), a dreamlike delve into the psyche of the titular troubled teen (Jake Gyllenhaal), who dodges disaster and is dogged by visions of a man in a bunny suit, as his grip on reality unravels.
A nightmarish and melancholy look at teen angst with supernatural overtones, featuring a strong visual effects and a cast including Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jenna Malone, Patrick Swayze, Mary McDonnell, James Duval, and the modern miracle of Sparkle Motion.
