Two-Colour Riso Print Workshop

Join artist Georgia Green for a hands-on introduction to Riso printing. In this two-hour workshop, you’ll learn how to create vibrant, layered images using two colours on our risograph printers in Convention House. No prior experience is necessary.

What is Riso?

Riso is short for risograph, a Japanese printing process that combines the look and feel of screenprinting with the speed and ease of photocopying. Riso prints one colour at a time, resulting in rich overlays, bold hues, and unique textures. It’s also one of the most sustainable forms of print, using plant-based, rice-bran inks – a byproduct of the Japanese farming industry.

What you’ll do:

• Learn how to prepare and print with Riso machines
• Choose from a selection of vibrant inks, including Blue, Teal, Fluoro Orange, Fluoro Pink, Red, Yellow, Burgundy and Black
• Print your own two-colour A4 edition of 10 prints to take home
• Get familiar with the studio setup and working with risograph inks in the space

What to bring:

We will be layering two designs on one A4 page to make the final two-colour prints. Designs can be anything from scanned drawings or sketchbook pages, magazine clippings or collages, digital drawings or illustrations.

Please leave a 1–2cm clear border around artwork with heavy ink to avoid paper jams. We are printing within an A4 frame, so please ensure that designs are scaled accordingly.

Convention House is located at East Street Arts, St Mary's Street, LS9 7DP, which is a short walk from Leeds Bus Station. There is paid on street parking, but spaces can be limited.
