Learn when and why and how to save seeds and discover nature's treasures for your own collection. As summer winds down, plants are getting ready to spread their seeds and we can create a collection for ourselves.
At 11:00, we will go on a scavenger hunt to find different types of seeds, nuts and other fallen treasures. We’ll talk about how seeds travel—by wind, water, and even hitching rides on animals. After our hunt, Alison will share the tricks and tips for making sure your seeds are ripe and ready for storage until next spring. Stop by and learn about seed saving any time from 12 - 2.
There is no additional charge for this program once you enter the gardens. Admission is free for members, $15 for non-members. Children 12 and under are free. Donations for materials welcome.

Alison loves nothing more than being outside in nature, observing and marveling at the beauty and rhythm of the seasons. As a child she always had rocks in her pocket and flowers in her hair – and often still does! In 2016, she saw the movie Seed: The Untold Story which inspired her to begin seed saving and create the Piscataqua Seed Project, an organization that saves and gives seed to all who want to grow a garden. She is a NH certified science educator, ecologist and naturalist who loves to get people curious and pondering the simplicity and magnificence of the natural world.
