Join us for another fun & informative evening with Italian wine expert Gianluca Austin-Rizzo ('Rizzo') and enjoy a selection of very special wines from Piedmont, a region lying within an arc of high mountains bordering France & Switzerland, and famous not just for its vineyards producing top quality wines, but for its deep river valleys and alpine pastures, producing a vast range of meats, cheeses, hazelnuts, walnuts and truffles. A meal in Piedmont can be a quite overwhelming experience with an ernormous amount of assaggi (antipasti) and several often substantial courses!

On this evening you'll learn about the unique characteristics and history behind each Piedmont wine and enjoy perfectly paired food offerings as you try each one. Whether you're a wine buff or just enjoy great wine and food in good company, this is a great way to discover something new and build your knowledge of wines from Piedmont.

Who is 'Rizzo'?

Gianluca Austin Rizzo's love for wine began in his youth, exploring his grandfather's vineyards in Copertino, Puglia, Southern Italy.In 1999, aged just 17, Gianluca moved to the UK, beginning his career at the Waterside Inn at Bray, a 3 Michelin star restaurant under the guidance of Michel Roux! Gianluca then held various management roles including at Yhyshir Hall in mid Wales and Simpsons in Birmingham, before going back to his roots and specialising in Italian Wines & Spirits as an Ambassador for Eurowines, a renowned wine importer in London (and supplier of wines to the CRAMPi shop!).
