In this workshop you will learn the ancient practice of creating dot mandalas. These skills were practised by buddhist monks as a form of mindfulness and a way to enlightenment. This course is more in depth than the 'introduction to dot mandala' workshop, as you will learn to prepare and draw a grid to plan out a dot mandala design, and paint the design on a 20cm x 20cm canvas.
After starting the day with a coffee and a short introduction, you will learn to draw a simple grid using a mandala stencil that will give you a basic plan to create simple dot mandalas. You will then be guided to complete a second more complex grid on a prepared 20cm x 20xcm canvas using a ruler, protractor and drawing compass that will give you the skills to tailor a grid to produce more complex mandala patterns.
Using practice paper, you will have a demonstration on how to use the dotting balls and rods to create dotted patterns and swooshes to use in your design. You will then be guided through a dot mandala design on canvas.
This workshop is for beginners, so no previous knowledge of dot mandala painting is necessary. However, this workshop is considered the next step if you have already completed the 'introduction to dot mandala painting' workshop. Although I can’t promise enlightenment, I can provide a fun and relaxed day.
