June/July 2025 Exhibition - Eva Bender Unveils New Collection of Signature Watercolors

For the months of June & July Lebanon Picture Frame & Fine Art Gallery proudly presents a captivating new series of signature watercolor paintings by local favorite Eva Bender. A beloved longtime member of the Mount Gretna arts community Bender recently returned to Sweden to be closer to family. Despite the change in scenery her commitment to creativity remains a constant thread connecting her past and present through the enduring power of visual expression. The exhibition’s opening is Friday June 6 2025 from 10am to 6pm and is also open during normal business hours through Saturday July 26 2025. 

Bender is a self-taught artist who grew up immersed in an environment where art design and creativity were highly valued. Born and raised in Umeå Sweden she earned her BA and began her career as a journalist—frequently illustrating her own articles. This blend of visual storytelling and narrative insight continues to inform her artistic practice bringing a quiet depth and intuitive clarity to her work.

Each of Bender’s paintings begin with a delicate pencil sketch which serves as the foundation for her fluid expressive technique. By applying generous washes of water and pigment Bender allows the colors to bleed and blend organically across the surface. The result is a mesmerizing transformation—where thoughtful realism dissolves into a dreamlike realm of abstract beauty and ethereal mystery.

Like many artists Bender describes her practice as an essential part of her being. “I can’t imagine not drawing and painting” she shares. “It gives me a language—a way to express what I experience. Art deepens and clarifies; sometimes it even saves your life.”

Upon meeting Eva Bender the connection between the artist and her work is immediately evident. Her paintings reflect a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature and a quiet curiosity about what lies beneath the surface of all things—and Bender herself embodies this same sensibility. She is an artist attuned to the subtle and the special often pointing out small moments of wonder with a spirit of generous delight. Her presence much like her art invites viewers to pause notice and connect more deeply with the world around them.
