“We must all do theater— to find out who we are and to discover who we might become.”—Augusto Boal
Devised theatre is a collaborative practice in which an ensemble builds the script, movement, and staging from scratch rather than interpreting a finished play. In this summer series, we’ll pair the creative process of devising with embodiment and somatic practices to use theatre a therapeutic tool for mindfulness, self-exploration, and playful community.
• Embodiment first – Each session opens with mindfulness, somatic, and embodiment practices to help you “drop in” and explore physical storytelling.
• Therapeutic theatre – Explore guided exercises using story, voice, and movement to help spark insight and unlock creativity. Many people report that this practice feels therapeutic and helps them gain a deeper self-understanding.
• Presence not Perfection – This series is all about showing up and playing. Perfection is not the goal nor the expectation. You’ll be amazed what you can come up with in a group that is fully present with each other.
• Inclusive space – No prior acting experience required; all bodies, identities, and comfort levels are welcome.
Expect to leave each week feeling centered, inspired, and confident in your unique voice—onstage and off.
We will meet on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of June, July, and August (except for July 26) from 2-4pm.
The cost is $150 for the full summer series. If you would like to participate but cost is a barrier, please reach out to
