A full-day workshop for Border Collie owners who love their dogs but sometimes feel overwhelmed by their intense brains and behaviours.
This day is all about understanding what makes the Border Collie tick. We’ll dive deep into the psychology, history and purpose of the breed, helping you make sense of the challenges you face at home whether it’s reactivity, sensitivity to noise or movement, or a dog that just never seems to switch off.
🧠 What We’ll Cover:
• How the Border Collie brain is wired: the influence of selective breeding and working instinct
• Why movement, noise and lead reactivity are such common issues in pet homes
• What “intelligence” looks like in this breed and why it often comes hand-in-hand with sensitivity
• How to build engagement: helping your dog choose you over the environment
• What kind of activities actually fulfil your Border Collie and help them thrive as a pet
• Practical strategies you can start using immediately to improve your relationship and daily life
🐾 Format:
This is a theory-heavy day with plenty of discussion and some hands-on work.
There are six handler spaces available for dogs who can:
• Spend time resting calmly in the car between sessions
• Work comfortably with people watching
• Cope with being in a new environment all day
If your dog might struggle with this setup, you’re warmly encouraged to join as a spectator you’ll still gain tons of value and take home actionable advice.
🐑 Special Bonus:
To bring the theory to life, the day will include a working sheepdog demonstration with my own dogs and if we have time, a few of you may even get the chance to try herding sheep using my dogs.
