Peter Keep - Claw setting July 5th 2025
Claw setting is one of the fundmental setting skills that takes time and good training to get right. Peter has many years experience training apprectices and jewellers in Australia and is visiting the UK to share his extensive expertise.
If you are not confident with claw setting due to little or no experience or have had issues with getting claws really tight and well cut or loose settings this is a brillant course for you.
During the course you will be introduced to all the unpinning principals and pitfalls you may encounter when using claw setting in design. This includes best practices in metal thickness ratios, getting the geometry right, what tools are needed and how to clean up effectivly after setting. Please note this is a setting course - you will not be fabricating mounts.
As part of the course you will be given a setting pack including practice blanks, cubic zircons in 2 shapes to practice 4 claw setting on the day. Peter will have other of his specially made up setting packs available for purchse for further practice at home.

Rachel Hearne Jewellery School is a fully equipt jewellery studio meaning you will need to bring a minimal amount of tools (mostly burrs and bits) with you. Tool list TBC.
