Marvelous Mushrooms! Foraging and FAQs ~ registration required

They’re all over the Web, all over the news, and if you’re lucky (and in the right season), all over your local woodlands! They’re mushrooms, the mysterious eruptions from an otherwise hidden world of life and death. When they emerge, they can delight us with beautiful colors, strange shapes, and curious aromas.

Mushrooms: what are they, how do they live, why are they fascinating? Where can you find them and how do you know if they're safe to eat?

This talk covers the basics of fungal life with insights on foraging for food and avoiding toxins, with a special emphasis on common mushrooms participants are likely to find in Central Massachusetts. Presented by Jonathan Kranz, a MA Audubon Certified Field Naturalist and Vice President of North America’s oldest mushroom organization, the Boston Mycological Club.
