The Northern Gateway Regional Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Northern Forest Center and the Town of Lancaster, will host a Lancaster Trails Ribbon Cutting & Kick-Off event on Saturday, June 28 at 12:00 PM at Cloutier Park next to the Granite Grind on Main Street. The event marks the official opening of the improved Lancaster trail network, which connects downtown with scenic walking routes, the Heritage Trail, Town Forest Trails, and Weeks State Park.
Recently installed kiosks at key locations, including downtown Lancaster, will soon display maps to help walkers and visitors access the trails with ease. Thanks to the collaboration of dedicated local volunteers, landowners, the Town of Lancaster, the Conservation Commission, Northern Forest Center, Appalachian Mountain Club, and many others, this effort has grown into a shared vision for accessible outdoor recreation in Lancaster. The kiosks were made possible through the support of Coös Economic Development Corporation, the Hopwood Charitable Trust, and Garland Mill.
“These paths connect people to the landscape and to one another,” said Ashley Baril, Chamber Administrator. “We’re excited to share what makes this place special and to grow access to local trails for generations to come.”
“Restoring these trails has truly been a grassroots effort that was incredible to witness” added Ann Corthell, Chamber Vice President. “And we are excited to celebrate it, and to thank everyone involved and to invite the whole community to step outside and enjoy nature.”
