Need a dose of Christmas cheer? Missing the joy of singing with others? Singing has many benefits for mental and physical wellbeing - it can lift your mood, reduce stress, and help you connect with others. Join this free inclusive, neurodivergent-friendly, singing workshop, with all abilities and those of all faiths and no faith welcome.
Run by experienced singer and conductor Amanda Ross, former Musical Director of local community choir The City Singers, we’ll sing popular Christmas songs, like ‘Last Christmas,’ ‘Cozy little Christmas,’ and many more. Songs have been selected to be Queer-friendly and are popular Christmas songs from across the decades, rather than traditional carols.
- Do I have to be able to read music?
No. We’ll work from a book of lyrics sheets (shared before the event) that you can print yourselves, read on your digital device, or borrow on the day. You don’t need to know how to read music or remember any words. If you know harmonies and descants parts, you’ll be encouraged to sing those too. We'll be singing a cappella (without instruments). Christmas jumpers welcome, jingle bells and Christmas hats provided!
- Do I have to stand up the whole session?
No. Seating is provided. Those who are able are welcome to stand and sing, but you can sit, move around, take a break, sway, dance, or clap along, whatever feels comfortable for you. The aim is to relax, have fun, and sing your heart out!
- What do I need to bring?
Water will be provided but you may want to bring your own drinks bottle or purchase drinks from the bar.
-How do I find it?
The Olive Bar is upstairs in the Gregson.
