Queer By Gum CIC now have a permanent art studio, office and event space in the Gregson!
The community interest company have ‘grown up’ within the Gregson, having started a Queer Craft Club in the Bar three years ago. They’ve gone onto offer a range of activities both within and beyond the Gregson’s walls.
Now Queer By Gum CIC are an inspiring queer/trans/artist-led grassroots arts organisation that organises a range of projects where the local LGBTQ+ community in Lancaster and Morecambe can create, connect and organise.
The Gregson is delighted to have transformed an unused space in the centre to create a fertile, affordable space for an emerging group/organisation/artist to become resident in for up to two years with a support package of mentorship and other benefits for being resident in the centre. After two years we hope the organisation will have developed beyond the space and be looking at pastures new. Just imagine after 10 years who might have developed their work within the Gregson Centre.

Come and meet the Directors and volunteers behind Queer by Gum for their official House Warming Party at the Gregson. This is your chance to find out more about the work of this brilliant organisation, meet new people and have some fun!
Order of events:
6-7pm – Open studio – Meet & Greet – discover Queer By Gum’s Space – ‘The Reading Room’ in the Gregson! The space has been transformed into a brilliant multipurpose space at the front of the building. Grab a drink in the bar and have a wander about. There will be Queer By Gum Directors and volunteers and Gregson representatives on hand to talk to you about Queer By Gum’s plans.
7-7.15pm – Talk on Queer By Gum – Join us in the Olive Bar for a talk by Queer By Gum Directors as they talk about the mission, vision and future of the organisation as a vital service for the LGBTQ+ community in our city and district.
7.15 – 9pm – Pub Quiz – in the Olive Bar. Come in a team or meet one here.
