BASICS: Ink/Stitch

This class runs about 1 hour and covers basic ways to turn an image into a PES. file using Ink/Stitch on a computer. Ink/Stitch software can convert a vector or raster image, in this case a logo, into a file that's ready to sew using the Brother embroidery machine.

This class will not spend time finding, converting or sewing your logo.

What you will learn in this course:

• How to turn simple images into PES. files
• Do's and don't of Ink/Stitch
• How to ready the design for embroidery

For the best learning experience, please download the software on your personal laptop and bring it along. Your instructor will be showing you the steps using a projected screen at the front of the room.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of how to download the free software before class:

Ink/Stitch is an Inkscape extension. Version 1.0.2 or higher before you install Ink/Stitch.

Follow the installation instructions.

Then, go to the Ink/Stitch website and download the appropriate version for your operating system.

After installation, you should be able to find Ink/Stitch listed under the "Extensions" menu in Inkscape.

Feel free to follow along on your laptop in class with your own own logo, or watch the instructor's example. The Ink/Stitch extension is also available on both computers in the textile classroom on a first come first serve basis.

Starting July 19th 2025 we will be instituting a $10 no-show fee for LMS members who don't show up for the classes they sign up for. These fees will be charged to the card we have on file. This fee is being instituted because we have had a pattern of members not showing up to our classes. Our classes have a limited amount of slots and we want to serve as many attendees as possible.

Class refund policy:

- 7 calendar days or more before the class start date: Refunds will be given, minus a 10% service fee (Eventbrite fees non-refundable)

- 6 calendar days to 2 days before class start date: Refunds, minus a 10% service fee, will be issued in the form of a credit voucher to be applied to a future offering within 1-year of the issue date.

- No refunds issued within 48 hours of any class offering.
