Killer Cuts: BRIDE OF CHUCKY

A film that needs no introduction but will receive one anyway, BRIDE OF CHUCKY came after seven years of radio silence from America’s favorite killer toy, reenergizing Chucky with a bolt of lightning from the ‘90s horror comedy boom. Directed by genre workman Ronny Yu and written by franchise helm Don Mancini, this mad tale of plastic in love hits with the subtlety of an exploding RV, pushing humor to the forefront and introducing series muse Jennifer Tilly as the hottest of hot girls, the bonafide bad doll Tiffany.

Though Mancini’s camp sensibility would fully explode in SEED OF CHUCKY, BRIDE is where the CHILD’S PLAY series finds its bloody, beating heart. Both a goofball satire of heterosexual doldrums and a fully satisfying slasher film, this is essential cinema for fans of bad jokes and beautiful goths. Barbie, eat your heart out.
