Join us for DOD's 2025 family-friendly campout! This campout is situated at beautiful Lava Lake, along the Cascade Lakes Highway. You have two choices for camping - you can reserve a spot at Lava Lake RV Resort, or you can reserve a spot at the USFS campground that is immediately adjacent to the RV park. This is a family-friendly event. You don't have to have kids to join us, but please keep things kid-friendly.
Lava Lake is just big enough for kayaks, paddle boards, swimming, fishing boats, and the party barges, but too small for ski boats. This makes it fantastic for family fun, and the water is warm at the end of August.
These campgrounds are also the starting point for three mountain bike trails - the Edison-Lava trail (advanced) that goes east to Wanoga Snow Park, the Metolius-Windigo heading north, and Oregon Timber Trail which goes south from the campground. Additionally, Mt Bachelor Bike Park should be running and is located close by. It's a choose-your-own adventure weekend! THIS MEANS THERE IS NO OFFICIAL DOD GROUP RIDE. Make ride/recreation plans with your friends or others who plan to attend this outing.
Amenities:
1) A small store with snacks, ice, beverages, and other essential gear.
2) Pay showers (available to everyone, even tent campers)
3) Swimming dock
4) Fishing boats, paddle boards, and party barges for rent.
5) Cell phone coverage (at least for AT&T)
The RV park has their own spaces with full power/water hookups and access to flush toilets but you must have an RV/trailer and reserve through them.
NOTE - We suggest bringing a propane fire pit - wood fires will likely be prohibited and it can get cold at night.
RESERVE YOUR OWN SPOT ASAP - If you'd like to camp with our people, look at spots 35-44. Last year people scrambled to get a spot due to them all being sold out, so don't wait! Cancellations are cheap. We recommend reserving your spot through Monday if you want to enjoy the whole day on Sunday since check-out is at noon. We hope to see you there!
