🏃♂️ EKC Athletics Carnival – Thursday 21 August (Week 5) 🏃♀️

The 2025 East Kimberley College Athletics Carnival is almost here! Join us on Thursday 21 August at the Kununurra Town Oval from 2:00pm as our Years 2–12 students compete in a showcase of sportsmanship, faction spirit and fun. Families are warmly invited to come down and cheer them on!
PRE-CARNIVAL EVENTS
In the lead-up to the big day, students will compete in a range of pre-carnival events that count towards faction points and individual championship points. These events help students build confidence and get into the carnival spirit.
Primary (Years 2–6):
• 100m – Run during class collaboration times
• 400m – During PE in Week 2
• 800m – During PE in Week 3 (Year 6s will complete theirs during Week 2)
• High Jump Finals (Years 4–6 only) – Mon 18 Aug (Week 5), Periods 3 & 4
• Long-distance events not running this year (completed in Cross Country)
Secondary (Years 7–12):
• 400m – Thurs Week 2, 7:00am
• 800m – Thurs Week 3, 7:00am
• 1500m – Thurs Week 4, 7:00am
• Discus & Javelin – Completed during class time or Thursday lunch
• Long & Triple Jump practice – Thursday Week 4 (lunchtime for seniors)
👟 What Students Need to Bring:
• Faction shirt (available from the front office)
• Enclosed running shoes
• Hat and sunscreen
• Water bottle
⚠️ Reminders:
• No re-runs for missed pre-carnival events
• Participation is expected unless a medical exemption is provided
