KCC marks the centenary of the legendary filmmaker Guru Dutt with a day-long symposium celebrating his enduring legacy—his films that blur art and anguish, image and ideology. Join us for screenings, talks, and conversations that revisit the poetic and political depths of his cinema.

The programme highlights include:

11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: A keynote talk by Prof. Ira Bhaskar on authorship, affect, and ideology in Indian cinema, followed by audience Q&A

12:10 PM – 2:00 PM: Screening of In Search of Guru Dutt (2021), introduced online by filmmaker Nasreen Munni Kabir

3:30 PM – 4:30 PM: Lecture by Prof. Madhuja Mukherjee exploring the layered meanings of Pyaasa

5:00 PM – 7:30 PM: Restored screening of Pyaasa (1957), introduced by Prof. Mukherjee — a meditation on love, art, and disillusionment.
