Civil War Days Living History Encampment

The ACHMGS is proud to host a 2-day Civil War Days event on May 9th and 10th. See, hear, and feel history come to life as you tour the encampment and our living historians share stories of local soldiers and their families trying to survive the Civil War. There will be interactive displays and drill/firing demonstrations throughout the day, plus log cabin and museum tours, new exhibits in the Civil War Room, guest speakers, live music, lunch and more!

The full schedule of events is as follows:

💥May 9th: 6 pm - 8 pm
Encampment grounds and museum open to tour, plus speak with living historians around the campfire!

💥May 10th: 10 am - 8 pm
10:00: Demonstrations begin- ongoing camp life, soldier drill, cooking and more.
🥪11:00-1:00 Lunch Available to Purchase by The Market on Reynolds
🇺🇸1:00: Guest Speaker Michael Kraus of Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall- Local Civil War History & Artifacts
🇺🇸2:00: Guest Speaker Evan Portman of Emerging Civil War & American Battlefield Trust- The Battle of Gettysburg: Tales of Forgotten Civilians
🎻3:00-4:00: The McCarney Minstrels: Live Guitar & Fiddle Music!
🎸6:00-8:00: The Corn Liquor Saints: Live Music! Classic Rock, Americana & Folk Music

This event is free and open to the public, rain or shine! Parking is availabe behind the museum via North Grant Avenue and on Vine and McKean Streets.
