Windsurfer LT (etc) Casual Race

Based on polling we have a date! Tuesday September 2 at SSP. Hope for wind! Please be rigged and ready to race by 6 and if there is a breeze we can do the longer course or two races (sunset is before 8pm now). If absolutely no wind then backup date is Friday 9/5.

who: anyone with a windsurfer LT one design board and rig. (Or an original windsurfer or similar old board and baggy 5.7ish sail). If you want to race and don’t have something appropriate please post up and maybe someone on the board does and can’t make it.)

Note this is “at your own risk”, you should be able to sail up and down wind and use your judgement, there is no rescue boat. Windsurfer LT and general sailing right of way rules apply.

I’m not a race organizer so if someone wants to help please jump in. Otherwise I suggest keeping it simple. My idea was to have a “beach start” from SSP where we all start at the same time from the launch. Depending on wind we could sail north to the southernmost “no wake” buoy at Matthews Beach and then back to SSP (upwind/downwind in a northerly). First one to touch the beach again wins. Or we could race over to OO Denny which has a similar buoy to round.

This is an unsanctioned casual race so we don’t have charter boards and there are no cool prizes. Just fame and glory and I’ll buy the first pitcher afterwards at the brewery! So get out your board or beg/borrow/steal one (or check the free listings on Facebook). It’ll be fun!
