This 2-hour class reimagines alchemy not as a relic of the past, but as a living, ecological science—one we witness daily in the Earth’s feedback systems like the nitrogen, sulfur, and carbon cycles. Together, we’ll explore the roots of alchemy and its evolution into modern chemistry, holistic medicine, and Hermetic practice.
Through the lens of Gaia Theory and Hermetic philosophy, we’ll ask: What does it mean for something to be alive? How do nature’s patterns reveal the deeper workings of transformation? And how can these insights guide our hands in the lab, the apothecary, or the wild?
You’ll be introduced to the Spagyric Path—a hands-on, alchemical approach to herbal medicine that honors the full intelligence of the plant: body, soul, and spirit. We will walk through the core phases of the spagyric process, from separation to purification and recombination. While the focus will be on plant work, we’ll also touch on the Secunda (animal) and Tertia (mineral) realms to illustrate the interconnectedness of all living things.
This class blends science and symbolism, history and practice, inviting you into a grounded yet visionary introduction to alchemy in the age of ecology.
About Your Facilitator
Raised closely to the natural world, Maureen (Mo) Judith was shaped by the quiet intelligence of plants, ecosystems, and wilderness from an early age. She became a life-long student of nature, she began to study herbalism in her teenage years. She left the country at 18 years old in pursuit of traveling to broaden her understanding of life and those who inhabited this earth. Drawn not only to local ecologies but also the ways life expresses itself across the globe. She spent around 5 years traveling and hitchhiking around the world, seeking to learn from the earth and those who still spoke her language. Today she runs Aura La Voura, a project, laboratory and brand dedicated to alchemical herbalism and right relationship with the earth. Their work scratches the surface of a new kind of research– one that bridges wisdom and soul with modern science and chemistry. She donates 3% of all her profits to foundations dedicated to reforestation and coral rejuvenation.
