Winter Sowing

Get ready for the 2026 gardening season by learning winter sowing and cold stratification techniques. Winter sowing is a simple, low-maintenance way to start seeds that mimics natural growing conditions, making it especially well-suited for native plants.

Participants will receive soil, seeds, trays, and domes, or may bring their own clean gallon jugs.

While not required, Hudson Valley Plant Exchange encourages participants to share some of their abundant new plants at a future exchange event.
