🎬 “Makes grown men cry like babies.”
Prepare to be moved.
This film, inspired by the real-life story of blind sound editor Mirco Mencacci, is a stirring tale of imagination, defiance and transformation.
When 10-year-old Mirco (Luca Capriotti) loses his sight in an accident in 1970, he’s sent to a strict boarding school for boys who are blind, where students are trained for “appropriate” vocations — like weaving and operating switchboards. But Mirco refuses to see his blindness as a limitation.
With a reel-to-reel tape recorder and a handful of used reels, he starts crafting little stories made only of sound — expressions of wonder, mischief and courage that awaken something in his classmates.
Together, they imagine a world beyond rules and roles.
Rarely shown in the United States, this emotionally rich Italian drama invites viewers to rediscover what it means to create, connect and be seen — even when others must close their eyes to do so.
