Recognizing and Responding to Children at Risk - SCAN

SCAN is a program of the PA Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics and is approved for Act 31. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

Ø Identify the role of child protection

Ø Define categories of child abuse in the law

Ø Recognize potential risks/indicators of child abuse/neglect

Ø Describe role of mandated reporter

Ø Explain referral process and follow up

Ø Utilize prescribed reporting channels and processes to report suspected child abuse via telephone or the Internet.
