Pie in the Park Annual Community Event and Fundraiser

The only thing better than eating pie is joining with your neighbors to support the Village Green. This beloved community event, now in its 17th year, is both heartwarming and delicious with something for everyone!

Always held on the second Thursday of August, Pie in the Park starts at 4:30 p.m. with an array of free children’s activities such as a pie eating contest, face painting by the talented Frida Haas and more fun hosted by the Kingston branch of the Kitsap Regional Library. Pie tasting — with free slices of pie, vanilla ice cream and coffee as long as supplies last —starts at 5 p.m. We’re hoping to have savory options available for purchase at the event, too. Guests can spend a little or a lot for a chance to take home a whole pie in the auction and raffle that kicks off at 5:30 p.m.

What are we fundraising for this year?
The sweet tradition of Pie in the Park was started to help fund construction of the Village Green Community Center. This year, organizers of the event are introducing a new goal: to replace the park’s aging play structures (some elements are over 20 years old) as well as the surface below to make the features more accessible, more safe and more engaging for all users. It is a lofty goal but the Village Green has accomplished even bigger things before and we’ll be starting strong with every dollar raised at this year’s Pie in the Park earmarked for the project. Come and show your support with your presence, your donation and/or your offer to volunteer on this effort!
