Mia Brazilian Jazz Ensemble

Mia is a jazz vocalist enchanted by the music of Brazil. With her warm voice, adventuresome arrangements and this ensemble of world class musicians, she’ll take you on a journey into the creative conversation between these two traditions as she delights in singing beautiful Brazilian melodies, playing in the waves of its rhythms and scatting her way back to jazz. You’ll hear Bossa Nova classics in English and Portuguese, pieces by contemporary Brazilian composers and her vocal scat versions of instrumental music. Mia will also perform new material from her studies in Sao Paulo of the rhythmic voice as she’s joined by old friends Matt King on piano and Itaiguarra Brandao on bass, and new collaborators Mark Dzuiba on guitar, Connie Grossman on flute and Chris Eddleton on drums.
