Join us for another installment of Making Dark Waves at Unicorn Bar on Thursday August 14th with Frenchy and the Punk (NY), Feyleux (NC), & The Long Losts (CT) and special guest DJ Midna Mayhem who will be spinning before and in-between the bands. ~Post-Punk, Darkwave and Gothic Rock~ Doors 7pm
Smashing together electro-acoustic hybrid guitars, loop pedals, fiery live acoustic and electronic percussion and synths, @frenchyandthepunk create their own distinct blend of post-punk, with elements of darkwave and goth rock. French-born singer, keyboardist, percussionist, Samantha Stephenson and guitarist Scott Helland (founding member of hardcore punk band Deep Wound whose members J Mascis and Lou Barlow went on to form Dinosaur jr.) draw inspiration from post-punk legends like The Cure, the upbeat energy and percussive textures of Adam and the Ants, the bewitching mystique of Siouxsie and the Banshees, and the quirky charm of The B-52’s. A two person powerhouse of sound, they tour extensively year round across the US and Europe.

@feyleux is a dark alternative duo that emerged in mid-2023 seamlessly blending dream pop, darkwave, and post-punk to create their distinct sound. Their debut album, "Midnight Hearts," released via the Swiss Dark Nights label, showcases cutting-edge bass synthesizers, cascading guitar melodies, and ethereal harmonies. Drawing on the vibrant gothic synth-pop aesthetics of the 1980s as well as modern darkwave.
"Midnight Hearts" beautifully merges a dreamy urgency with dramatic flair, embodying the spirit of dark romanticism. This powerful fusion invites a deep exploration of apocalyptic love and anger, firmly establishing Feyleux's surrealistic gothic style in the contemporary dark scene.
@thelonglosts The Long Losts are a gothic/deathrock/punk band made up of Anka & Patrick McGowan. Since forming in 2012 they’ve established themselves as a go-to musical accompaniment for those who relish in the beauty of the macabre. Musically influenced by guitar driven rock bands like Sisters of Mercy, Misfits, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Specimen and Faith and the Muse, The Long Losts draw inspiration from the shadowy realms of ghost stories, autumnal nostalgia, and gothic literature.
