Why We Protest: The Threat Is Real
We are standing up because democracy in the United States is under direct and escalating assault. The MAGA-aligned Republican movement—led by Donald Trump and enabled by GOP operatives across the country—has embraced authoritarian tactics, undermined the Constitution, and worked relentlessly to dismantle the checks and balances that protect our rights and freedoms.
They tried to overturn the 2020 election. They stormed the Capitol on January 6. They now run campaigns rooted in election denialism, white nationalism, and open contempt for the rule of law. Across states, they are banning books, criminalizing protest, suppressing votes, and targeting immigrants, LGBTQ+ communities, and anyone who challenges their grip on power.
This is not normal politics. This is fascism in motion.
When one party refuses to accept the results of free elections, gerrymanders itself into permanent power, and uses state violence and courts to silence dissent, the people must resist. This regime is not just threatening to break the system—it is actively doing so, and we are the firewall.
The Constitution belongs to all of us—not just billionaires, militias, and conspiracy theorists. We refuse to be governed by fear, hate, or minority rule.
