This is not a hyper-organized, activity filled day. It's a day of leisure spent with great people in a beautiful place that will truly leave you feeling rested and restored.
Rushing River Provincial Park is located in Treaty #3 of the Anishinaabe Nation. This area of Dogtooth Lake in the Kenora region has held a magical place in my heart since I was a young child. It is one place that I have loved swimming all of my life, and with the sensitivities I have due to my neurodivergence, finding a spot I feel comfortable submerging myself in the water in, is not always easy. The shorelines are full of Canadian Shield rocks, fragrant jack pine trees, and beautiful flora and fauna. The water is full of minerals and the swimming area is at the top of gorgeous rushing river falls. It’s a place I love to spend a sunny summer day, it rejuvenates me and restores my soul. I am inviting you all to join me this summer.
We will start the day with a guided grounding exercise then a 4.2km slower paced social hike on the Granite Knoll Trail to admire the sights and connect with Mother Earth. We will have a swim and lunch at the beach area where we will relax, build connections and there will be time to wander, take a sunlit siesta on the sand or do independent reflection and exploration. To close the day we will prepare a nature gift that represents something meaningful to us that we either want to nurture or release to the universe to take care of or heal within us.
Cost includes snacks, additional water, and activities. A day pass is required to bring a vehicle into the park, I will help with arrangements to purchase day passes online and carpools if needed. Participants will need to be able to travel to the park, though I can create a meeting place near the MB, ON border and potentially one in Kenora. More details to come. If you wish to camp out there for the night or stay overnight in Kenora options are easy to find. There will be a rain plan/date created closer to the event.
