Character Descriptions:
• Penelope Toop – Fun, spirited, and a bit unconventional. A former actress now married to the local vicar.
• Reverend Lionel Toop – Penelope’s husband. A young, proper clergyman who gets caught in a whirlwind of confusion.
• Miss Skillon – A conservative, nosy churchgoer who disapproves of Penelope and ends up in the middle of the chaos.
• Clive Winton – Penelope’s old friend from the theatre, now a soldier. Charming, confident, and quick-thinking.
• The Bishop of Lax – Penelope’s uncle. A dignified but flustered bishop who arrives at the worst possible time.
• The Intruder – An escaped Russian prisoner of war. Mysterious, dangerous, and looking for a disguise.
• Sergeant Towers – The local police sergeant. Straightforward and serious, trying to make sense of the madness.
• Ida – The cheeky and lively maid. Down-to-earth, playful, and quick with a smart remark.
• Reverend Arthur Humphrey – A visiting clergyman. Mild-mannered and unsuspecting, drawn into mistaken identity mayhem.
Expect quick entrances and exits, mistaken identities, costume swaps, and nonstop comedic confusion — classic farce at its best.
