Zoom art talk: Caspar David Friedrich

An hour in the company of the greatest German painter of the Romantic era. Friedrich's paintings are about landscape and the relationship between people and the landscape, and there is an understatement to them ​despite the grandiose ideas of Romanticism. ​He is also part of a tradition, as I see it, of ​Northern European ​painting that begins in the 15th century.

I will ​present a selection of his paintings, with a chance for discussion at the end.

A talk on Zoom by Dr Victoria Mier (PhD Bristol), a specialist in the art of Northern Europe in the Renaissance.
