Janie Frampton OBE is a true trailblazer in football and is coming to Duns as part of Berwick Literary Festival 2025!

This all-ages event is perfect for football fans, families, coaches, and anyone interested in resilience, ambition and inclusion in sport.

A former FIFA assistant referee, Janie was one of the first women to officiate in the men’s professional game in England. She’s faced – and overcome – the barriers of a sport traditionally closed to women, becoming a global voice for equality, leadership and fair play in football.
Now, she brings her story to the Berwick Literary Festival in conversation with former Scotland international and broadcaster Pat Nevin.
