Fabulous Friday: Lyle Henderson

n 1942, Elmus and Edna Henderson founded the Platte Valley Saddle Shop in Kearney, Nebraska, making quality western saddles. Seventy five years later Lyle and Lynda Henderson are continuing the tradition of leather workings and saddle making. During a recent interview with BCHS, Lyle recounted the changes in saddle making over the years. “Well everyone around Kearney had horses and a lot of them still had teams.” Lyle said, describing the 1940s when his father opened the Saddle Shop. Today Lyle and Lynda produce mostly custom show pieces for leisure and recreation horse owners. Known for the quality and detail of their work, Lyle and Lynda have become masters at the craft of leatherwork. We are excited to welcome them to Fabulous Friday and encourage guests to view our “Dirt, Animals and Clean Fun” exhibit on Buffalo County Rodeo featuring artifacts on loan from Lyle and Lynda.
