Presentation of the book "Litauen I / Lietuva I" by Ebbe Flatau (Kaunas)

The Royal Danish Embassy in Lithuania, in cooperation with the Valdas Adamkus Presidential Library, invites you to the presentation of the book Litauen I / Lietuva I, held as part of the Danish EU Presidency.

Litauen I / Lietuva I is a bilingual Danish-Lithuanian publication of the first part of the autobiography by Ebbe Flatau (b. 1938 in Kaunas), the first Danish lecturer at the Scandinavian Department of Vilnius University.

For many Lithuanians and Danes, this publication will reveal previously unknown facts about interwar Lithuania and Denmark. The book creates a cross-cultural memory of Denmark and Lithuania through an engaging story about one family.

We are delighted to welcome the authors, Ebbe Flatau and Loreta Vaicekauskienė, who will share their insights and reflections.
The discussion will be moderated by Saulius Pivoras, who will explore not only the story of one family, but also the broader history of two countries and their diplomatic relations during the interwar period and today.

Editing and translation from Danish by Loreta Vaicekauskienė (Vilnius University), translation into Danish by Dixie Simonsen, comments by Norbertas Černiauskas.
