Book Presentation "Escaping Stalin" - Baltic Refugee Story in Denmark

The Danish Embassies in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, together with the Danish Cultural Institute and in cooperation with Mykolas Romeris University, warmly invite you to the presentation of the book "Escaping Stalin" - as part of the Danish EU Presidency 2025.

We are delighted to welcome the authors Brian Traantoft Rasmussen and Thomas Græsbøll Svaneborg, who will share their research, insights, and reflections on exile, identity, and the enduring relevance of refugee experiences in today’s Europe.

Through the authors, we have reconnected with Algirdas Tamašauskas, likely the last surviving Lithuanian refugee from WWII in Denmark, who arrived in Denmark with his mother in 1945.

We look forward to welcoming you to this timely and important conversation.
