Mood Curriculum is a new series of podcasts and events curated by Kristian Vistrup Madsen that takes as its starting point his essay Mood over Content published by Kunstkritikk last year: kunstkritikk.com/mood-over-content/
Mood implies both attunement and resonance; the possible dissolution of the boundary between object and subject. Mood is not information, but inherent to art's own ontology. Here, artwork and practice cannot be separated, but form a unit that necessitates that art's dissemination in itself must be practiced as an art form. What it posits is something at once so obvious and so completely alien as a turn towards aesthetic experience in contemporary art.
The first event in the series asks us to attune with art's negative potentials: the potency of refrain, the beauty inherent to certain types of loss. The artist James Richards will show a suite of recent films and the curator Fatima Hellberg will talk about her work with the collection at MUMOK in Vienna, where she has just begun her tenure as director.

There will be an opportunity to view the current exhibitions half an hour before the event begins. It is free to attend and everyone is welcome. Complimentary drinks and snacks will be served.

Stemning er både afstemning og resonans; muligheden for opløsningen mellem subjekt og objekt. Stemning er ikke information, men iboende kunstens egen ontologi. Her kan værk og praksis ikke adskilles, men udgør en enhed, der nødvendiggør, at formidlingen af kunsten i sig selv må praktiseres som en kunstform. Stemning medfører noget på en gang så åbenlyst og fuldstændig fremmed som en æstetisk vending i samtidskunsten.
Det første live-arrangement i serien opfordrer os til at forholde os til kunstens negative potentialer: effekten af tilbageholdenhed, den skønhed, der ligger i visse former for tab. Kunstneren James Richards vil vise en række nyere film, og kuratoren Fatima Hellberg vil tale om sit arbejde med samlingen på MUMOK i Wien, hvor hun netop er tiltrådt som direktør.

Der vil være mulighed for at se de aktuelle udstillinger en halv time før arrangementet begynder. Det er gratis at deltage, og alle er velkomne. Der serveres drikkevarer og snacks.
