Join Stephanie Wiley from the Kalkaska Conservation District at the Kalkaska Farmers Market on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 3–6 PM for a hands-on seed saving workshop!
Store bought seeds are great, but saving the seeds from fruits & vegetables you grew yourself is even better! Over time, these seeds become plants that are more adapted to our local soil and climate, leading to stronger plants and bigger harvests.
Seeds you save can be kept for personal use in years to come, or shared with the public through the Seed Library located in the Kalkaska County Library. This free resource is available to all Kalkaska County library card holders.

Stop by the Kalkaska Farmers Market anytime between 3 and 6 to learn how to remove, preserve, and package the seeds of various fruits, veggies, and flowers!
As a bonus, feel free to BYOH (bring your own harvest) if you have something specific you want to learn to save the seeds from!
Don’t miss this chance to grow your garden skills and contribute to a more resilient local food system!
