Kalama Mixtape presents Larch West Trio. We will be venturing a bit off the beaten path and charting a course for some less-traveled musical waters.
To be more specific, Larch West Trio's set will feature instruments tuned to 31-EDO, a tuning system that contains notes that can't be produced on a standard piano, guitar, ukulele, banjo, kazoo, or Fisher Price xylophone. We will be using some custom instruments, custom software, as well as more standard resources such as eye of newt and toe of frog (just kidding).
Music that uses alternate tuning systems like this is often called "microtonal" music. In short, new notes/chords/sounds abound! Featuring Matt Pollock on bass guitar, Bryce Pollock on keyboard, and Josh Bott singing and reciting poetry.
Despite the experimental-sounding nature of this description, we think it is very approachable and are very excited to share it with you! This performance will be a relatively short set (40 minutes or so) so there will be ample time to chat afterwards if you enjoy it!
