Get ready for an outrageously fun night of wine tasting and Drag Queen Bingo this October as part of Savour Northland!
The Northland Negociant, Keith Barker, kicks off festivities with a ‘wine tasting for dummies’ featuring delicious local white and sparkling varietals. Our fabulous hostess, Tess Tickle, conducts the hilarious bingo sessions, with prizes and a dazzling drag show.
The first part of the night will kick off around 7pm with a fun wine-tasting hosted by Keith Barker and featuring 3 world-class Northland wines, story-telling and lots of laughter.
Keith Barker is well known in the world of wine as an ‘exuberant character’ with a deep knowledge of viticulture. He tells us he loves driving tractors and leaf plucking. We know he has 36 years of experience in the wine industry, including many years at The Landing. When he says he has ‘done wine tastings for diverse clients’, we know that includes US Presidents and mega rock stars.
Keith’s down-to-earth approach about wine breaks down barriers. He is now running his own endeavour in the Far North as The Negociant, sourcing and selling the best wines under his own label, Black Mountain Wines.
Our Drag Queen Bingo hostess, Tess Tickle, then takes the reins to guide us through 3 fabulous rounds of bingo. This much-loved Māori diva became the darling of Sydney’s competitive drag scene and has been a featured performer in large scale events including the Sydney Olympics Closing Ceremony, Rugby World Cup Opening and countless Mardi Gras Parades.
Don your sequins and tiara girls… the party continues with music, a licensed bar and delicious food available to purchase. Ticket price includes the wine tasting, bingo and light snacks plus an awesome Northland inspired menu from the Awanui Hotel team.
Doors open at 6pm so you have plenty of time to grab a drink before the fun begins.
